Steelhead Caddis |
|
Hook: | TMC 7989, Mustad 9049 sizes 6-8 |
Thread: | Brown 3/0 |
Body: | Pale-orange Haretron |
Underwing: | Brown turkey tail |
Head: | Tan or blonde elk hair, spun and clipped sparse near head, with some hairs left long to form a wing |
Tying Instructions 1.Tie in thread just in front of hook bend and dub a large, loose, tapered body of Pale Orange Haretron. 2.Tie in a tent shaped wing of turkey tail that you have coated with Flexament. 3.Spin a pencil sized bundle of elk hair for the head and wing and clip to the shape shown 4.Whip finish and cement. Method: While some use a traditional wet fly swing, I prefer to use a light wire hook and either skate it over the riffles or use a dry fly dead drift in calmer water. |
