Tying Instructions 1. Wrap thread to middle of bend and tie in gold wire 2. Using a dubbing loop twisted very tight, wrap the abdomen in touching rows 2/3 up the hook shank. 3. Spiral the gold wire up the abdomen. I usually take 5 to 6 turns. Tie off. 4. Form a dubbing loop and insert a small amount of dubbing mixed with 6-8 trimmed deer hairs. Spread the deer hair through the dubbing loop. Twist the loop and then stroke the deer hair back as you wrap it. Tie off the loop and trim any deer hair from the top. Trim the rest about the length of the shank. 5. Cut a strip of Medallion Sheeting (you can substitute dark gray Swiss Straw if you can't find the sheeting) about 1/4" wide by 2" long. Crease the sheeting down the middle and tie in in front of thorax. Trim the wing in a v-shape to the length shown in the picture. 6.Tie in antennae, one on each side and fairly long (see enlarged picture). 7. Build up a fairly substantial head, whip finish, and it's complete. |
