Halfback Emerger

Hook: TMC 100 #18-20
Thread: Olive
Trailing Shuck: Brown Z-lon. Extends up the abdomen to the thorax.
Abdomen: 4-5 Pheasant tail fibers
Rib: Fine copper wire
Wingcases: Gray deer hair
Thorax: Olive Superfine

Tying Instructions

1. Tie in copper wire for rib.

2.Tie in brown Z-Lon using only two tight wraps at the hook bend fold back out of your way.

3.Tie in 4-6 pheasant tail fibers and wrap forward 2/3 hook shank. Tie off and trim

4.Pull Z-Lon forward forming a back.

5.Counter wrap copper wire over abdomen, tie off and trim.

6.Tie in a small bunch of deer hair in the same manner you would any wingcase

7.Take two or three turns of dubbing around the hook shank and pull deer hair forward over the top to form the wingcase. Trim excess, apply a small amount of dubbing to the thread and wind it around the hook shank to cover the spot where you tied off the deer hair, Whip finish and cement.
