Green Butt Skunk

Hook: TMC 7999
Tail: Red hackle fibers
Rib: Small silver tinsel or oval silver tinsel
Body: Fluorescent chartreuse chenille butt, black chenille body
Hackle: Black Saddle
Wing: Black calf tail topped with 4-5 white calf tail hairs

The Green Butt Skunk is the most popular summer steelhead fly in the Pacific Northwest. It has probably caught more fish than any other fly.

Variations
Body: Dyed ostrich herl instead of chenille. The ostrich herl gives the fly more movement.

Butt: The most common variation is the Red Butt Skunk, which uses red chenille for the butt. I also like a hot pink chenille for the butt.

Tactics
Traditional wet fly swing.
