Another good pattern for summer steelhead. It can be fished weighted or unweighted on a greased line. Apply floatant to everything but the leader and fish it across and down. This fly can be very effective on those days when the fish aren't coming to the surface for your offering |
Tying Instructions 1.Tie in marabou tail, pearl Krystalflash, oval silver tinsel, long saddle hackle (by the tip), and the chenille. 2.Wrap (in this order) the chenille, rib, and saddle hackle forward leaving enough room behind the eye for your hackle and head. 3.Tie in one soft webby saddle hackle and take 3-4 turns folding each turn back toward the bend. 4.Tie in small fluorescent chenille (color of your choice) take 2-3 wraps, tie off and trim. 5. build up head of black thread, whip finish, and cement. |
